We love to travel, but we do it in bits and pieces. Hopefully this website will allow me to write down where we've been so far and what we've seen.

I met up with Joshua in Bangkok, we stayed at the Banyan Tree hotel, extremely posh, did the usual shopping and then caught the flight to Siem Reap after a night in Bangkok.
the bed, the bed, heavenly bed
darling, we've finished buying the entire shop, do you have anymore shopping to do???
We were met by our tour guide in Siem Reap airport, now this guy was a sample. He has to be included in our list of characters we've come across during our holidays. He spoke with the strongest american accent and kept asking us every morning "What did you have for breakfast?" and he'd answer himself "I ate some noodles and some soup and..." , he also referred to me as a "humdinger", i think Joshua had the biggest laugh when we realised what he was saying !!!
Moving on up...we spent the next 2 days exploring all the temples that make up the Angkor Wat complex. I think seeing the main temple really took our breath away, it seemed surreal just looming out from the earth...reminded me of a certain scene in the movie Jungle Book...those who've seen the movie will know what I'm talking about...
at the main temple.
last evening we decided to skip a temple and go to see the tonle sap lake. supposed to be the largest lake in SE Asia. Sunset on our last day in Cambodia, I wish we had more time to spend there...but with the cheaper airfares now we might go there again...never know
its a lake, seriously.
on our return to Bangkok, we took a trip to Kanchanaburi to see the "bridge over river kwai", sounds corny but it was much fun . we weren't really big fans of the movie but apparantly a lot of oldies on the bus had lots of comparisons and comments about the movie..
we stayed overnight at the raftel hotel, has to be one of the most unique places i've stayed in..these were boat-rooms floating on the fast moving river..whole night the room was gently swaying and rocking...
also made friends on this trip, one of the couples actually came and visited us when we were back in KL..dear friends by now, the Harveys from Canada..
other things we did were elephant rides, we also visited the war cemetry...hellfire pass..a museum about the japanese occupation...
overall , this holiday was really relaxing, we managed to do all that we wanted to, we learnt a lot, one of us who's not into history, no names mentioned, enjoyed more than he thought he would..hahahah..one thing we kinda missed was going to Phnom Penh, specially after seeing The Killing Fields ... I guess going to the museum would have been a learning experience.
