Following masses of preperation my trip of a lifetime was finally a reality. Beginning in the adventurous New Zealand, before taking in delights of Australia over Christmas. Bali was next on the agenda, trading in the comfort of the West for drastic cultural differences of East Asia. The modern city of Singapore next acted as a stepping stone for travel over-land through Malaysia and island-hopping around Thailand. My Adventure finally ended amongst the neon scyscrapers of Hong Kong.

The marvelous Ko Phi Phi Island was our next island hopping adventure. We climbed to a viewing point to find an awe-inspiring view of the island. The beaches were lush, despite environmental damage caused predominantly by tourism.
The fact that it was one of those most severely hit Islands by the Tsunami also has not helped Phi Phi, with much evidence of the havoc that was caused by the tsunami in full view even today, two or so years after the disaster.
Phi Phi has no traffic, so we instead we took a boat trip to discover its delights, especially on its neighbouring Pi Pi Lei national park island. The excellent boat trip included snorkeling amongst the reef and a trip to Maya Bay, the setting of the Beach Film which really does bring the film to life!
We were also treated to excellent nightlife (including a fire throwing show) on Phi Phi for the short time we were on the island.
