After arriving in Bangkok everything like passport check, filling out some papers, getting my backpack was settled quickly. After changing some Euro to Baht I went on the airport bus to reach my hostel. The bus driver had three states of driving: full gas, full brake and full beep. After reaching the correct bus stop I had to search a little bit because my hostel was at the other end of the street. Sometimes street names and house numbers shorted the search a little bit. The hostel stuff at the Hostel Thailand has been very friendly and helpful.
Later I checked out the quarter and I found a lot of people, shops, food stalls, massage,...
The climate is a little bit different, 37 degrees Celsius outside, -37 degrees in the shopping centers because of high running air conditionings. Later I have eaten in a shopping center in a restaurant, because the first one or two days I wanted to prefere food from a clean restaurant to accustom my stomach for the different food. The drink was a 50:50 mix of coke and ice.
On the evening I checked out a Thai beer and afterwards I could sleep very well and I had no problem with jetlag.
Day 2 - May, 05.
The night was very, very cold because there was air conditioning in this room.
After breakfast I walked under protest of all Tuktuk-Taxidrivers to the Taksin Bridge. On the way I discovered an indian temple.
Later I took a public boat on the Chao Phraya River to the Phra Pinkhlao Bridge until I arrived in the quarter Banglumpu. The second internet cafe worked to write the first part of my diary. After internet and lunch I walked around in Banglumpu until I got lost. I wanted to see the position of the sun to find a direction but the sun was in the upright position.
Then I heard from an english student that today they are celebrating their Buddha Festival and the government made a special offer to promote tourism. They spent all the fuel for Tuktuk-drivers and for 20 Baht you can drive around to some sightseeing places with free entrance.
She stopped a Tuktuk for me and the driver was very friendly. In Wat Saltus a friendly policeman explained me the 1000-year-old Buddha statue. Later I have been to the TAT tourist office and they made me a good offer for a trip to Koh Samui, where I wanted to go one or two days later. They also had special Buddha-Day-Offers.
On the end of the tour I have been to the Golden Mount, a very good view over Bangkok include its pollution.
On the end 20 Extra-Baht for this friendly driver and we both have been happy.
Later a public boat trip from the Golden Mount to Ratchathewe nearby to the Skytrain. This boat line is not on a touristical plan but a special attraction. 10 minutes of something like a wild-water-rollercoaster for 6 Bath is competitionless to every Disneyland. This boat was completly over-motorized. Fuel is cheap and faster driving means paying passengers more often.
Then a test drive with the skytrain, very boring, the windows full of advertising to have a bad view.
On the evening I checked out food reflex massage, interesting, they activate nerves I never have known to have. After this experience I checked out traditional Thai-massage for one more hour.
Day 3 - May, 06.
I slept bad because some American girls came at the night in this room and they used their hair dryer the half night when I wanted to sleep.
In the morning I woke up with more sound of the hair dryer and discussions about which beauty salon they want to go.
Instaed of going into a beauty salon I visited the center of Bangkok with some big shopping centers at the Siam Square.
After cooling down in the shopping center Central World I walked around and did one more trip with this wildwater-rollercoaster-boat from yesterday. Then I visited the City Hall before lunch and a Tuktuk-trip to Wat Prakaew. After this I visited the other big temple Wat Arun on the other side of the Phraya River.
Later a trip with boat and Skytrain back to the hostel to catch my backpack and a trip to the Bangkok Railway Station for getting a bus direction Ko Samui.
The night trip on the bus was very long. I could not sleep because I had 1000 thoughts about Bangkok and to be 10000 kilometers away from home. A beer during a brake could not help to start to sleep.
