Day 29, June 1
A short trip from my hostel to the airport, a very fast checkin and then waiting because I was very early and with a little bit delay we started to Alice Springs. During the flight I saw the Blue Mountains from above and then the landscape got dryer and dryer.
At this small airport in Alice Springs many hostels did some advertising and so a hostel with included transfer from the airport was found very quickly.
On the afternoon I explored this 25,000 people town with no bigger town 1,500 kilometers around.
On the evening an All-You-Can-Eat-BBQ for 7,50$ in the hostel, a good deal for my hungry stomach after eating nearly nothing this day, not for the hostel
Day 30, June 2
After booking a 3.5 days-outback-tour starting on the next day I visited the Reptil Centre with Marie from Switzerland.
Later I went jogging beside the dry Todd River.
When it was dark I went to an internet cafe to empty my camera before the outback-trip.
Day 31, June 3
After a long breakfast I relaxed the morning. At midday the outback-tour started. The first day we had to drive a lot. At the evening we reached Ayers Rock Resort for a BBQ and for a night on a camping court.
Day 32, June 4
At the morning we had to get up at 5.15h, very early, but we wanted to see Ayers Rock / Uluru for sunrise. Afterwards we did a walk around Ayers Rock. Then we visited the Aboriginal Culture Center before driving to the Olgas, where we did a hike. On the evening we visited the sunset at Ayers Rock.
Now I am as long away from home like never before. The longest was a one month interrail trip to France, Spain, Portugal and Marocco.
Day 33, June 5
At 5h we got up to see one more sunrise at Ayers Rock. Later we did a long trip to Kings Canyon. There we did a hiking tour and on the evening we visited the sunset.
Day 34 - June 6
Today we slept long and did a long breakfast. With a lot of stops for sightseeing we drove on to Rainbow Valley. The last kilometers to Rainbow Valley on an unsealed road was the real bus torture.
On the evening we went back to Alice Springs and then we had a group meeting in Annies Hostel with the special offer Kanguruu meat for 5$.
Later I was tired on 120%, my head was overfilled with all the impressions of this beautiful trip.
The choosen company Waywardbus is very good.
Many visitors are climbing on Ayers Rock, which the aboriginals are calling Uluru. For the aboriginals this rock is sacret and they do not like people climbing on it. The country of Uluru is their country. The Europeans did a lot of bad things to these people and in my opinion tourists climbing on Uluru are showing no respect.
Day 35, June 7
I used this day to see some more about Alice Springs.
School Of The Air:
I visited the with 1,3 million square kilometers biggest classrooom on the world. The lessons are broadcasted by high frequency radio and now they have some lessons on two-way-satellite-internet, which is subsidized in the outback. When the pupils met in Alice Springs once a year they are knowing each other not on their face but on their voice.
Telegraph Station:
It is very interesting to see the way of communication before telephone and internet. The Morse Code was a revolution to send messages very fast. Before this they received messages only every two months.
Royal Flying Doctors:
Australia has the outback-service to send a doctor everywhere within two hours. I visited the control center with an attached small museum with old medical equipment and old radios.
The foodwalks between:
A long walk and had no water with me. So I visited some public bathrooms for drinking some tap water.
For optimizing the time of loading I putted more pictures in the next chapter.
