We love to travel, but we do it in bits and pieces. Hopefully this website will allow me to write down where we've been so far and what we've seen.

This trip came about because Josh was in London for work, so I met up with him in Vienna airport....i thought that was really cool
We took an airport shuttle to our hostel, it dropped us off at the West Bahnoff from where we walked to the Hostel Ruthensteiner. It was really small and cramped but the room was well lit and overall we were really happy seeing each other after being apart for 2 weeks so the room could have been a hole in the wall and we wouldnt have cared less
We mostly walked a lot in Vienna and bought city passes too so our tram and U rides were paid for. we went to stephensplaz, karlsplatz, around the ringestrasse, the whole lot. the weather kept shifting between cold and sunny so i had lattes whereever whenever possible. Joshua on the other hand enjoyed the gelatos !!
stephensplaz
One of the days we went a bit out of the downtown area to the Schonnbrunn Palace. Had to take the U and the train. Weather was nice and sunny. We took the tour of all the rooms, even the room where little Mozart jumped on the Queen after playing for her...outside the palace there were different gardens and even a maze garden. This part was fun and both Josh and I had to be helped to get out of the Maze ! :p
schonbrunn view
what else...it was also here that i got obsessed with taking snaps of ducks. there were ducks everywhere and i have a nice collection of snaps. so if you're interested just ask and i'll be happy to show you
we also went to see the belvederes palaces, which used to be oneof the most happening places to be seen in early vienna
.
a bit of history on the snap below. we spotted a nice old japanese uncle in the park so we ask him to take our snap with the Mozart statue. In this case we might have overestimated that not ALL japanese people are handy with cameras..it took him 3 tries and all 3 times poor mozart's head was out of the picture...
uncle, we want more than Mozart's legs !!!
next on the agenda was to take the train and head to Salzburg, we left really early in the morning , the train was nice and empty too, and the seats could be pulled out to make comfy bunkers. reaching salzburg the first thing we saw out of the window were snowy mountains and we both smiled..i remember that..we were soo happy
our hostel was supposed to have the best view of the hohensalzburg fortress...views from up there were amazing
we walked a lot in salzburg, we sat by the river and ate lots of sacher-torte..or atleast i did :p we also took the Sound of Music tour...now Josh keeps blaming me for this tour but the truth of the matter is..HE WANTED TO GO AS MUCH AS I DID..and he even made me watch the movie in the hotel the night before the tour...NO KIDDING.
One of the days we took the cable car up to Unteresberg..it was snowy, we met a nice old couple on the way up...they outdid us walking up the snow !!
on the way up
for the remainder couple of days we went to Hellbrun , this was a place where they had hidden fountains of water and the tour guide would set the water jets on people passing by..it was quite fun and since we knew of this before hand we didnt get wet..it was fun watching the oldies on the tour get wet though
our last day in salzburg we took the bus out to and spent the day by the lake side. i managed to catch up on my journal and josh took naps and walked around. this was also where we had our first good meal in a restaurant. most of the time we ate from bakeries or made our own stuff in the hostel kitchen. so this was a day to remember
