On wednesday, may 4th I got a ride to Bruchsal (Karlsruhe) with a girl I study with. We started in Bochum in the afternoon. Her little car was full because she had made an anouncement on the internet and had two more passengers besides me in the end.
From Karlsruhe it took me another 1 1/2 hours to go to Freiburg (Breisgau) in the Blackforrest on a highspeed-train. I finally arrived pretty late at night.
As I didn't have too much luggage we decided to take a tour around downtown first. Daniel had picked me up at the train station and we then had 'Döner' for dinner.
Downtown Freiburg makes you feel like you are on vacation even if you are not. Just the palm trees are missing.
I still had the feeling like I was on vacation even though the weather was worse at that time in the entire country! It would never stop raining and in many parts of germany it was floody. Maybe it's because of Freiburg's very southern position that it's always a tiny bit warmer and nicer there ...
But we still had plenty of rain that weekend ...
Before we made our way to Daniel's student residence we went to a karaoke bar where I met some of his international friends he was taking german courses with (he himself is from sweden).
His residence was a little outside of the town and we took the tram there. We had to improvise a little because (of course) there was only sleeping arrangements for one person in his room and I hadn't brought anything either (except for my sleeping bag) ...
We worked it out by taking turns of sleeping on the pretty hard ground.
