Five Islands, Georgetown

The cross country road trip that has failed to materialize for 3 years but finally, fulfilled in the year of 2007. Two (crazy) girls set out one early Tuesday morning and in their journey's wake, meet transvestites, cute boys, get bitten by mosquitoes, get pierced with rusty nails and squirted in the eye with 'porn sausage', hang with bums and riffraffs at Union Station....

8.12.07:
We woke up bright and early to find that Maine was eerie by night, but beautiful by day. After we persuaded the front desk to let us delay our check-out time, Jen and I were off to eat some delicious Maine lobster in Georgetown.
Since we knew we'd have a long drive after Maine (38 hours driving time) to Wyoming, we decided to stop by Budget Rentals and have them check our tire pressure, etc. The gentle and kindly older man really went out of his way and not only helped us check our tire pressure and fluids, but also drove us out to the nearest gas station. Talk about hospitality!
Jen and her Dunkin' Donuts
The breakfast of champions
Mileage driven to Maine
We can't wait to eat the succulent lobsters
Random graveyards can be found throughout Maine... a bit disturbing but of course, Jen loved them!
5 Islands
Very serene, but smelly
Tourists and Maine inhabitants alike flock here for the lobster
I love eating ice cream at parks and lakes
We're here!
A dog waits eagerly for lobster remains
...still waiting...
Trying to keep us from the lobsters
Jen and I each ordered a 1.5 lb soft shell lobster with a side of corn for $15 each. So very cheap and extremely delicious. We ate that lobster in its entirety, including the brains and guts.
Excited to eat him soon
Workers prepare and steam him for my tasting
Lovely day out
The lobster gorgers
Meanwhile...
...taking more photos...
A cute bird perched atop the ramp
Close-up pic
More creatures of the wild
We are starving
There's the cute bird again
Workers are still preparing the lobsters
We are envious of these people
You can kinda see the 5 Islands in the background...
Finally, our lobsters arrive! (Jen's is bigger than mine
)
I will now eat you-- ALL of you
Resisting the urge to dig in already
Sweet succulent morsel...[shivers]... (Homer Simpson)
These lobsters were so tender and sweet, none of that brine-tasting crap we get out here in California, and each bite was like a small taste of heaven. I guess the drive into Maine for the lobster is well worth it.
Chinese lobster
Jen likes to have fun with her food
So despite the fact that we had just finished a lobster (each) in its entirety, we wanted more food. We decided on a bowl of steamers (clams). Except, the clams out here in Maine are gi-normous.
mmm
1 lb steamers
Now we're just being retarded
We cleaned up real nice!
Jen's butchy pose...
She had me do a retake...okay, less butch
I love my new 5 Islands tee
Lovely view
The lobster tank
I'd definitely have to say Maine ranks up there in terms of hospitality and courteousness to tourists. This lady was so friendly she even let us hold the heaviest lobster of the bunch.
Holding the 3lb champion
Damn! I should've ordered this one
The men responsible for such delightful catches
Us Asians and our cameras
Definitely would love to come back here again one day...
