Day 71 - July 13
The bus arrived Cusco too early in the morning at 5am
. With a taxi we went to a hostel where we could sleep a little bit on. Then we tried to get a train ticket to Machu Picchu but for the next days everything was booked up and the next day a strike. Then we informed us about the inka trail, but this was also booked up for a long time.
So we decided to look around in Cusco at first and made a relaxed day.
Day 72 - June 14
At 7am the train counter opened and we decided to be there at 7am for a next try to get a ticket to Machu Picchu in a few days. After one hour of waiting I got a ticket from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu in a few more days. Grace booked another ticket directly from Cusco for a higher price because she had not so much time left and one day earlier there was a free place in this train.
This day we wanted to visit some museums but they all striked. Another idea was to take a bus into the Sacred Valley but the bus drivers were also striking. So we had one more day to relax.
After lunch I discovered Sacsayhuaman an inka town very near where you can walk from Cusco. Many people do not like to walk the 200 meters of altetude up and so this was relly not overcrowded.
On the evening I met Grace again and we had a big supper in a nice restaurant.
On the evening the strike was finished.
