Day 75 - July 17

The Machu Picchu Day

Today I got up at 5am to see Machu Picchu before all tourists arrive. So I took the first bus from Aguas Calietes up to Machu Picchu.
And then I walked around in the Inca town for hours. On the afternoon I hiked up the Huayna Picchu, the mountain behind Machu Picchu.
The complete day I spent in and around Machu Picchu.
On the evening I went to the thermal bath of Aguas Calientes. I met some Germans and we drunk beer inside the pool
After this long day walking around and taking a hot bath for 2 hours I was completely tired and slept well.

Day 76 - July 18

On the early morning I went by train back to Ollantaytambo and took a bus back to Cusco. I hoped to catch the day bus to Puno, but I missed this bus. But I had an open ticket to catch the day or the night bus. And so I had another day to spent in Cusco. With my Boleto Turistico, a ticket for many museums in 10 days I visited some other sights in Cusco I have not seen.
Later I visited some churches. Very interesting is the Iglesia de Santa Domingo / Coricancha, a mixture of inka temple and christian monastery.
On the late evening I had really seen enough culture and so there was time for coffee and before my night bus departed I spent a few hours in the internet to update my diary, to read newspaper and to hear german radio.
At 9:30pm my bus departed and I slept well.
