My trip around the world... India

Travel time: July 2004 - December 2007  |  by Nicole Schemionek

28.12. Hitchhiking from Ko Lanta to Bangkok: 02.01.05 Bankok to Chiang Mai

So..Today we are heading for Chiang Mai in the northern part of Thailand. Today nothing special happened...Yesterday I colored my hair into a normal color again because the sun and seawater gave them a color that nobody likes to have...I bought the color stuff for 1 Euro in India and now finally I was able to use it. What I forgot was that there was no hot water in the guesthouse, so it was almost impossible to wash the black color of my skin. But also there was something funny about the color. When I washed my hair, some green stuff came out. But who cares my head is still on the right place. But when you like scratching you should buy color from India...grgrgrgr...I have almost lost my nails while scratching all day...Happy for my I have Calendulan salve to rub on my head.
I did not sleep well last night. We were hoping that this would change during the train trip. We did sell all our not necessary stuff but do not ask me at what price...they are all criminals over here...Now we are in the train and it is a bumpy ride. We have a seat directly below the air conditioning and believe me, this time of year you do not need air co. Our asses are frozen meanwhile. The train ticket costs 511 Baht and the trip will take up to 12 hours for 700 km. And why???because the train stops at every possible thing that looks like a station. We are riding now for 30 minutes and we stopped already 9 times....hihihihi...no wonder it takes so long. But the trip is worth it and I am glad I experienced it.
Maybe when I go back I will take the bus for only 300 Baht and 7 hours drive.
Now for something completely different...hihihi...the toilets of the thaithai and I do not mean the European ones, they are so stupid...well I mean...in India, you just aim above a big hole but here it is so different. You have to climb on a platform which is very difficult sometimes because the platform is wet and slippery. I am happy to tell you that I did not slip and my foot got stuck in the toilet...hihihihi...You probably think this is an interesting story, but I just wanted to let you experience this a bit as well...Take care.
