I loved your story, it reminded me of my first time in a German Sauna. I spent 10 yrs in Germany until i retired in 2005. I now work for the Civil Service and am trying desperatly to go back.

I loved your travel desription and even feel a little homesick now. I am from the Spreewald area, but have been living with my partner in the UK for the last 8 years. Every time we go home to visit my parents we go paddling in the Spreewald and also visit the "Kristallbad". What a fantastic description of cultural differences. Andrew felt exactly like you there on his first visit, although I was there to help. On the other hand I still sit in British saunas on my towel with flip flops on my feet and hate every drop of sweat that gets soaked up by my bathing suite (they would probably shout at me if I were to sit there naked) Have you any intentions of re-visiting the area?
