Similan Islands Dive Trip

Friday 1st November
Chilling out in Khao Lak

Well our time at the Similana Resort had come to an end. We awoke at 6am and went for a long walk along the beach. It's another glorious day, after breakfast we took a swim in the Andaman Sea. The water was warm but had refreshing cold patches. We checked out late morning, total cost was 2877bt. We loaded the bike with our packs and took a very slow ride into Khao Lak. We had quite a few hours to kill before the dive trip began at 8pm. We wandered around town, checked out the internet and eventually dropped off the bike. We had an early dinner at the Khao Lak Seafood restaurant then hung around the dive shop chatting to the other passengers.

Eventually at 8.15pm we all piled into minivans for the 1 1/2 hour trip to Kuri Buri Harbour. The "Andaman" boat was great, very roomy and nice a.c. cabins.

Dive..Dive..Dive in the Similan Islands

Over the next 4 days we moved south through the Similan Islands and had some wonderful dives. The dive sites were all spectacular and the coral and fish were magnificent. The Thai crew looked after us like royalty and the food was delicious (Aroi!)

On our last day we were able to go for a walk on Similan Island (No. 8) and took the path up the mountain to the top of the island. The walk was very steep in places and we had to use ropes to pull our selves up. The view at the top was worth the climb. Coming down was a lot easier and I had a swim while waiting for the dinghy to pick us up.

The four day trip was well worth the 17000bt each and would recommend Sea Dragon for their professionalism and excellent service.

The boat arrived back into Tap Lamu Harbour and we were ferried back to Khao Lak in songthaews. There quite a few of us staying at Phu Khao Lak so we took another songthaew to the resort. The huts were set in a large coconut grove which were covered in fairy lights. It looked very pretty arriving at night. The rooms were excellent and dinner at the open air restaurant was delicious.
