MONKEYS! (...Lopburi, but mostly monkeys.)

Yeah... day eight had a lot of monkeys... more monkeys than one can possibly imagine.

We managed to miss the 10:30 to Lopburi due to second thoughts, possibly related to the monkey horror stories. Really, the monkey stole the old ladies glasses and then proceeded to drop them from a great height while she cried old lady tears. Or third hand knowledge says so.

Maybe i already coverd missing the train. Anyway, 1:00 to Lopburi, only a 1 1/2 hour ride which ends with giant faux-gold monkeys at the lopburi train station.

We made it to the local TAT office where they were very helpful, and checked into the cheapest GH (guesthouse) yet. (yes, i'm going to use abbreviations galore - just learn them).

The guesthouse, as i was saying, was cheap cheap cheap, only 160B/night (remember now 35B = 1 CAN - i checked). It's none to great in any way except one: it's got the power, cuz it's got the monkeys. The whole building, like many in the city, is caged in chain-link fencing to guard against rampaging monkeys, so they just hang-out on top of it, particularly above the balcony thing outside our door.

Witness the monkeys:

he was cuter in person, i swear.

it's like monkey mug-shots. but we're the ones in the cage, remember.

There were a lot more monkeys, but uploading pictures is tedious. We spent a lot of time chilling on the balcony with the monkeys. These are bonified city monkeys, held at bay by fences, slingshots, whips.

But they gave us no trouble.

We checked out the night market and went to bed early as per usual.

Here are some more monkeys.
