A long time ago I decided to travel to South America - to Argentina or Chile. First no money as a student, then no time as a (hard-)worker. But now my little brother and his friends are spending 6 months over there on their globe-trotter-trip. So no poor excuse anymore. I pack my shoes.

My flight starts from Francfort/M, Germany to Santiago de Chile and returns from La Paz, Bolivia. We will backpack from Santiago up to the North until the boarder travelling by bus or train.

After a couple of days in Santiago we decided to go on to Mendoza, Argentina, approx. 7 bus hours, because Manu Chao was supposed to be there and we did not want to miss them. But first we had to cross the Andes...

Beautiful, isn´t it?

I missed a picture of the South American summit Aconcagua (6962 m), but I have this one instead which is not that bad.

Will we make it through the boarder between Chile and Argentina?

Viva Argentina!
Well, I have to say, in this direction no problemo, however the way back is a bit more stressful. The customs in Chile are quite consequent. No food at ALL, so we had to trow some stuff away... Don´t like that.

Still the Andes...

Nothing else but impressive and beautiful mountains

Cannot stop taking pictures of these mountains...

The Andes cover Chile, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia and stop in Ecaduor, so a total length of a couple of thousand kms. Impressive to approach Chile from the sky because it seems to be wedged between huge hills and the pacific ocean. So no big room for flat land.

Mendoza and the concert of Manu Chao

Though Mendoza is a student city of approx. 1 mio. inhabitants there´s nothing much to take a picture of but public gardens (and probably the vinyards we won´t see because of timing). Anyway, beautiful palm trees

Manu Chao

Ever seen? Does not look like on the picture, but it was a quite moving, almost shaking, concert. Am happy, that my poor (bare!) feet survived, though I do not get how. Good ambiance, very nice band

It was almost a concert between us, 400 people, a big family...

I also appreciated the Argentinos, really smpathetic people. Lively, full of energy and temper, nice and respectful.
