Round the world in 7 months

Travel time: November 2004 - June 2005  |  by Volker (Heusche) Pakulat

Thailand: Koh Samui

Koh Samui has changed a lot during the last 10 year. It turns from a backpacker dream to a mass tourist destination, but I still like it. You can find everything. Loud techno discos but also small bars on the beach where you only hear the geckos But they can be annoying too . Restaurants with 50$ food but also Thai food kitchen where you still get the fried rice for 80 cents. Crowded beaches with parasailing and Jet Ski but also ones where you are almost alone. There is a new law in Thailand saying that you can't sell alcohol after 2 am, but it seems that it's no problem to sell beer or whiskey in a coffee cup. Again it's not the paradise it was 10 years ago but it still has "The magic of an island" and it probably has the nicest airport in the world.

looks much better than Frankfurt airport!
