John's Around the World Adventure 2005/2006

Travel time: December 2005 - June 2006  |  by John Davies

Australia: The Outback- Central Australia's Red Centre

Next was our pilgrimage half way across Oz, into the outback, of which the Red Centre is only a small part. We chose this region simply for one reason and one reason only; Ayres Rock. This rather large and unexplainable imposing red rock is undoubtedly the best I have ever seen, in the middle of nowhere, towering over 300 meters into the sky! We completed a 3 hour base walk and visited the aboriginal cultural centre nearby, before posing for the necessary must-have sunset shots! Whilst in the region, we also visited an equally imposing sight, the Olgas Rock formation

The trip

Description:
Following masses of preperation my trip of a lifetime was finally a reality. Beginning in the adventurous New Zealand, before taking in delights of Australia over Christmas. Bali was next on the agenda, trading in the comfort of the West for drastic cultural differences of East Asia. The modern city of Singapore next acted as a stepping stone for travel over-land through Malaysia and island-hopping around Thailand. My Adventure finally ended amongst the neon scyscrapers of Hong Kong.
