My first big journey to Africa brought me from 13th September 2001 until 13th October 2001 to Mali. While Mali seems to bee unknown by the most people in Germany ("Oh, you´re going to Bali, the beaches shall be nice there." was the most popular answer I heard from friends), is a town wich is placed 907 km in the north of the capital Bamako well known worldwide: Timbuktu. But there is much more to see in Mali. The Dogon Country along the Falaise de Bandiagara is well known for its arts, especially its masks, and, as well as Timbuktu and the mosque in Djenné an UNESCO world heritage. Apart of this Mali is still worth a trip. It´s a voyage to another world....
