Århus is the second biggest town in Denmark. The whole population of Denmark is about that of Sydney with about 1 million in Copenahagen. Århus is about 400,000 strong.
The first day we went exploring Århus, Lotte took us to the Art Museum which was heaps of fun. They were running a special show on the history of race car design which was really interesting.
This is THE famous sculpture at the museum. Funnily enough it is a sculpture of an Australian boy by a Danish artist. It was quite impressive.
We've spent a little bit of time wandering the lovely old streets of Århus as we needed to spend our insurance money as quickly as we could before our bags were returned to us. Note: as of 25-12 only one bag has been returned and we are still praying for the other.
The Danes sure know how to make a place feel like Christmas . . .
I just love some of the cafe/bars we have stumbled across in Århus but this one really takes the cake. So much work has been put into making it cosy . . .
Julius's Uncle Bent invited us around to his house for a pre-Christmas dinner with his partner, 2 daughters and their families. There were 18 of us all together and Bent cooked everything himself. The dinner was really lovely and included smoked ham, roast pork (with crackling), potatoes, red cabbage, kael, frigadella (pork rissoles. Bent really put a lot of effort in which was really special.
