Day 2:
Guido gave me free breakfast this morning, but he even called in an accommodation to a hostel his friend worked for down the street. He walked me there, checked me in, then gave me the address location to the second hotel he was working at that morning in case I wanted to stop by to use the internet for free. Again. Che simpatico
After checking in, unpacking, and accepting Guido's internet invitation, we said our goodbyes and I headed to Spizzico for lunch.
I loooooove Spizzico
After lunch, I walked around Florence and did some of the more 'touristy' things this time around. When I lived in Siena previously, Jill and I would come to Florence quite often, mostly for dinners, shopping, partying and hanging out with our bfs. I never really did anything during the daytime until today.
Il Duomo
Lorenzo Ghiberti's bronze Eastern door of the Bapistry
We love gypsies
"Live art" in front of the Galleria degli Uffizi
Il Campanile
View from inside the tower
Breathtaking
Brunelleschi's Duomo (the bricks lay on top of each other without any mortar or cement to seal them)
View of Florence
3:1 Italians prefer this mode of transport
That night, this Russian girl staying in my room let me use her cellphone to call Jilly since my crappy Italy mobile wasn't working. I met up with Jill and Tomaso where we relived our drinking days at Shot Cafe. Though I told Jill and Tomaso not to mention my visit here to Marco (my former Italian flame), he 'coincidentally' shows up an hour later at our destination. The plus of him showing up, and being around 2 Italian guys that didn't speak a lick of English brought back my Italian real quick.
Jill and I- Amici reunited!
Day 3:
I stayed with Jill at Tomaso's place tonight. We chatted, had dinner, drank liters of vino and the next morning, Jill and I hung out and caught up while Tommy went to complete his military hours at the office.
Awww...I miss you two crazy kids.
They're this fun pretty much... all the time
Flippin' bird at the gelateria
I love the thin crust of Italia pizza with toppings ranging from artichokes, basil, sausages, porticini mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes...mmmmm
