After Puerto Natales, we made our way down to Punta Arenas where we spent our final nights in Patagonia. We were definitely ready for some real summer weather . . .
More sky shots
Punta Arenas is a nice enough town. Quite a lot larger than Puerto Natales and with a lot more history and quite impressive architecture.
Kelli and I decided we would go to the famous penguin colony at Isla Magdalena. Isla Magdalena has one lighthouse that I think is slept in by the rangers but is otherwise only inhabited by birds including 145,000 Magallenic Penguins. They were just EVERYWHERE!
ay yay yay, mucho penguinos!
We weren´t expecting it, by the tour guide took us to see a sea lion colony as well. We actually enjoyed them more than the penguins. They are very curious creatures, following our boat around and really trying to interact with us.
Can you see the little babies? So cute!
It was a pretty cool way to end our time in Patagonia but we were pretty ready for some sun and were really looking forward to having the same room, in the same city for 11 whole nights . . . RIO HERE WE COME!
Our last sunset in the deep south
