Really great to see your travels, the ups, the downs and all the good helpful hints along the way. I am taking my family to Thailand this Christmas and coincidentally we are staying at Poppa Palace in Phuket too.

European: No, pasty skin is always welcomed! A little tanning oil usually does the trick!

You are absolutely hilarious! I am leaving for Thailand in less than one month for the second time, and your experience will definately help. I read your whole journal, and even forwarded it to a friend because you made me laugh so hard. About how long did you go for? 2.5 weeks? I know it was couple years ago. Any plans of returning? Anyways, thanks for the entertainment. Im glad you had an enjoyable trip. xo -shannon
The Autor's comment: Hi Shannon--

I'm SO glad you enjoyed reading about our adventure! Yes, we did stay for about 2.5 weeks... I definitely do plan on returning in the near future. Thanks for the compliment... we did take some time to write this and i'm glad people are still enjoying it after all these years. Definitely, try out the 1st class movie theaters if you have some leisure time... it's unlike anything I've ever seen as we don't have anything like that sort here in the United states! enjoy the trip!!

Typical anti European.

Heaven forbid we go on holidays. I should learn to keep my pasty Irish skin at home for fear of upsetting you on the beach in Patong by my mere sight.

Thanks for posting your trip. I'm planning my own trip to Thailand and your experiences will no doubt help me decide what to visit and what to skip. It's also good to learn from your difficulties (like with phoning the airport). I will definately take my cell phone, get a SIM card when I arrive, and also bring a list of airline phone numbers!

I liked your write up about Patong. Driving IS dangerous here man... I can't count the number of times I've seen death on the roads. Incredible. Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore. I have some driving tips in case anyone is interested > http://www.thaipulse.com/cautions/driving-in-thailand.htm
When you coming back?

My God, I can't believe you put together such a detailed traveloge of your guy's trip! I don't think I would be patient enough to do that, but it is very well done. This is kinda like a Playboy, I know there are words there, but I really just like looking at the pictures!

I agree with Christina! I'm craving for some Thai food too Yes, I as well did read the WHOLE thing I forgot to mention earlier that I'm glad that you got your camera bag back! You got REAL lucky! Not everyone would turn it in at the airport!

Wow, all so very nice. The food looks so tempting that I had to get some Phad Thai while reading. I'm already exhausted from just sitting here reading. It took me almost 3 hours to read it through and yes I actually read not just skimmed through the pics. I figured you put a lot of time and effort into writing and arranging the pictures the least I could do is read about it. I really liked how you minimalized it by letting the pictures tell most of the stories.
The Autor's comment: Hhaha of course, I have my friends (my-friends-who-don't-like-to-read-but-would-rather-look-at-pictures) in mind when I wrote this j/k I think towards the end, we just got lazy and started posting more pictures. Besides, they can tell you thousands of words much better than we can.

I dont remember seeing this and if we forgot to include it, shame on us! the first and most humorous attempt at bargaining: I went up to a travel agent and was beginning the bargaining process, telling them, "you know, so and so down the street said they would give it for $x." Before the salesperson can say anything, Christi says, "no they didnt, remember they said a higher price!" i try to play it off..."no honey, remember they said a lower price." Christi: "no, remember they were telling us x amount of baht more." I give up bargaining and we gave up with this place.

Lesson: Agree on a bargaining strategy beforehand.
