Thailand

Travel time: December 2006 - January 2007  |  by Christina E.

I once read somewhere that when you go to Thailand, you can't wait to leave it...
...but you also can't wait to go back.
That much we agree with. Here is our story, we hope you enjoy reading as much as we've enjoyed experiencing it!

I am WAY excited for my (our) trip to Thailand! Already, I've used plenty of work time researching and reading online travelogues about destinations, what to bring/not to bring, foods to eat, currency rate, shopping, accommodations (guesthouses), sights and 'Wats' to see, etc,etc... Even came across the true definition of a 'lady boy' (sex op gone bad :/) and a 'Thai Kebab' (fried: grasshopper, cockroach, other creepy crawlies) Yum! I'm already antsy for this trip to begin. Countdown to Thailand: 35 more days!

The countdown is on! Already, we've spent numerous hours (and parking $$) poring over travel guides/books at Border's. We've already looked through every guidebook imagineable from Lonely Planet, Let's Go to National Geographic, Fodor's, Frommer's....you get the hint. We've talked to countless people, taking into acct their travel advice and tips, yet keeping our guns stuck to previously determined sites/islands. Still, the anticipation for this trip is enormous (from my part, anyway...i'm sure H is excited as well!)

Arghhhhh! We can't wait for out trip any longer!

One thing that worries me though:

While we're gone, who will feed my fish-- Sebastian, and babysit Escrufles?

Any takers?!

...30 more days... so far away...

November 22:

Items to bring:

REI backpack, daypack, passport, plane ticket, travel folder (itinerary, travel insurance info, important credit card/bank numbers), electric current converter, Canon digital cam, Canon all-weather camera case, lithium battery (2), SD memory cards (3), disposable camera, bikini (1), absorbent travel towel, Teva sandals, flip flops (for the restroom showers); Travel-sized: first aid kit, toiletries, toilet paper, sanitizer; Immodium AD, mp3 player, journal/small notepad, pen, hat, sunblock/faceblock, tank tops (2), cargo pants (1), socks (1), underwear (3), bras (2), small wallet, money belt, small locks for backpack, wire lock, fleece blanket, light track jacket, plastic bags, hair tie, mosquito repellant, travel alarm, lip balm.

**Travel-sized toiletries**
I suggest saving shampoo/conditioner and lotion samples contained inside magazine ads, as well as signing up for online samples as they are light-weight and easily disposable once they are used. Some sites even give away make-up, perfume and face wash samples.

I actually stuck to my plan of packing light!

November 27:

Countdown to trip: 23 friggin' days!

Our plan to refrain from eating Thai food until our trip has failed miserably. Its hard to live in Hollywood right in the heart of Thai Town.
